We’re looking for an Art Gallery Curator Mentor who can live and volunteer for 6 months in the Solomon Islands.

  • As a volunteer, you will share knowledge and skills on acquiring, collecting and cataloging artworks as well as ensuring their overall care.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a bachelor's degree in art history, fine arts, or a related field and have experience working in an Art Gallery ideally including digital cataloging.
  • This assignment seeks to Identify gaps in the Art Gallery systems and processes and support the team to update them.

About the Partner Organisation 

The National Art Gallery is responsible for the development of the creative industries of the country, managing the National Art Gallery, the craft market centre and promoting artists. The Gallery implements activities such as hosting art exhibitions, establishing art collections, organizing school visits to the gallery, as well as art classes, workshops and demonstrations.

This assignment will support with technical assistance in the field of Curating. There is a lack of qualified personnel in the country, and the gallery would benefit from some guidance and technical support to help strengthen the National Art Gallery institution.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.  

Additional requirements for this assignment include attaining a First Aid Certificate.
