We’re looking for a Community Legal Advocacy Mentor who can live and volunteer for 12 months in Kiribati.
- This assignment seeks to support collaboration between local government, traditional leaders and civil societies to enhance community driven justice initiatives.
- To be considered for this role, you’ll need minimum 5 years experience in legal aid, human rights advocacy, community development or mediation services, as well as formal qualifications in Law, Community Development, Human Rights or related field
- As a volunteer, you will capacity build through training delivery, and support the coordination and monitoring of advocate performance. with support from the Office
About the Partner Organisation
The Office of the Public Legal Service (OPLS), based in Tarawa, is a government legal aid organisation mandated to provide free legal services to the disadvantaged people of Kiribati. OPLS' vision is to ensure an accessible legal system that promotes social justice through providing free, professional, and inclusive legal services to disadvantaged people.

Requirements
- All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV).
- A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.
- A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.
Additional requirements for this assignment include obtaining First Aid Certificate.
