We’re looking for a Correctional Centre Rehabilitation and Reintegration Mentor who can live and volunteer in the Solomon Islands for 12 months.
· You will be working alongside CSSI staff to review the Rehabilitation Framework, and help develop their Reintegration Plan 2025- 2026, which is inclusive of strategies for incremental progression of best practice.
· To be considered for this role, you’ll need relevant university or other professional qualifications in social work, criminal justice and/or public policy as well as at least 5 years or more experience working in the area of rehabilitation and reintegration.
· Provide support with professional development of CSSI staff in best practice for parole and probation and community corrections.
About the Partner Organisation:
The Correctional Services Solomon Islands (CSSI), based in Honiara, operates six correctional centres across Solomon Islands, the main high security centre and largest being in Honiara, a farm facility at Tetere in Guadalcanal, and single centres in the provinces of Temotu, Makira, Malaita and the Western Province. CSSI's mission is to enhance the safety of the community by providing secure and humane correctional containment and facilitating the rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners.
A volunteer with expertise in the field of Community Corrections would be of significant help to CSSI as the agency aims to enhance and strengthen the currently limited support it provides to persons released into the community. Furthermore, the support of the volunteer would be vital in supporting CSSI with its upcoming review of legislation, in particular with regards to Parole and Probation. Support would be welcome with regards to their advocacy campaign in communities and their work on strategically creating a program that will support reintegration of offenders into communities.
