We’re looking for an Electronic Automatic Weather Station Technicia who can live and volunteer for 6 months in Solomon Islands

 

  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a recogised tertiary or trade qualification in electronics
  • As a volunteer, you will support to upskill the local technicians to have electronic skillset to carry out technical duties to install and maintain the electronic equippment in Automatic Weather Station
  • Provide support in developing manuals ot guidelines on Automatic Weather Station installation with maintenance and repair


About the Partner Organisation 

The Solomon Islands Meteorological Services is a division under the Ministry of Enviroment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology that is responsible in ensuring effective and proper adminstration of Meteorolgical Services to support economic development and the national interest of Solomon Islands to deal with other Meteorological related matters. Their vision is to ensure safety of lives and protection of proper properties in Solomon Islands through effective management of Meteorological Service. And their Mission is to modernize strengthen and enhance the institutional administrative capacity of Meteorological service division to provid a competency services to the people and the government of Solomon Islands for sustainable development and resilience communities.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.  

Additional requirements for this assignment include obtaining First Aid Certificate.
