About the Partner Organisation
The Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Department (PAFO) in Luang Prabang is one of 17 local administrative offices of the Lao PDR Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The role of the PAFO is to oversee all matters pertaining to forestry within Luang Prabang, including wildlife. This assignment has been developed through a long-standing partnership between the Luang Prabang PAFO and Australian NGO Free the Bears. This partnership has established a bear rescue centre and more recently a larger multi species rescue facility for providing short- and long- term care for wildlife confiscated from the illegal wildlife trade. The primary objective of this initiative is to improve the English language skills of our staff at both sanctuaries and PAFO staff should they be interested in participating.
