We’re looking for a Lab Technician Mentor who can live and volunteer for 12 months in Tonga.
- This assignment seeks to strengthen data collection, analyze and provide recommendations for better decision making to improve groundwater testing across all areas of Tonga.
- To be considered for this role, you’ll need 3-5 years of work experience in a water laboratory and water resource management, as well as a certificate in water quality testing, laboratory techniques, and/or ISO 17025.
- As a volunteer, you will work on capacity building staff and improving laboratory protocols and best practice.
About the Partner Organisation
The Tonga Water Board(TWB), based in Tofoa, is the national utility responsible for providing safe and reliable water supply and sanitation services in the kingdom of Tonga. Established to address the growing need for sustainable water management, the TWB plays a critical role in ensuring access to clean water for Tonga's population, particularly in urban and peri-urban areas.
To ensure TWB's vision, that the community are getting clean and safe water to use, this assignment is vital. Capacity building of local staff by a volunteer, particularly around rigorous quality control of ground water testing, is essential for the organisation and the community in general.

Requirements
- All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV).
- A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.
- A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.
Additional requirements for this assignment include attaining a First Aid Certificate.
