We’re looking for a Legal Compliance Mentor who can live and volunteer for 12 months in Samoa.
- As a volunteer you will support the team to identify gaps in compliance and develop and conduct training to offer an improved understanding of legislation. As well as this to support the development of educational materials for public use.
- To be considered for this role you’ll need a Bachelors Degree in Law, public Policy or related field as well as a minimum of 2 years experience in litigation, investigation, legislative compliance and or public enforcement, preferably in a business, regulatory or administrative law context.
- You’ll be supporting the team who are working to foster economic growth and prosperity in Samoa.
The Ministry of Commerce Industry and Labour’s (MCIL), based in Apia, has a vision to support the Government to accelerate sustainable development and broaden opportunities for all. Their vision is to become a “leader in promoting an enabling environment for diverse business innovation and employment in Samoa”. Their mission is “Fostering economic growth and prosperity in Samoa by promoting public and private partnership and ensuring a fair trading platform for businesses and consumers”.
MCIL is seeking the support of a volunteer to join the Legal Unit and provide mentoring relating to enforcement and compliance. The Volunteer would work with the A/CEO Legal and provide additional support to the Legal Unit which works across 9 divisions of the Ministry.

Requirements
- All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV).
- A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.
- A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.
- A First Aid certificate will need to be provided.
