  • As a volunteer, you will be building the capacity of local staff in assessment and treatment of sports injuries to including development of relevant injury prevention, management and appropriate rehabilitation programs.

About the Partner Organisation

The Palau Medical Commission, based in Koror Palau, typically operates under the Palau National Olympic Committee and oversees medical support, anti-doping policies, and athlete health and safety during national, regional and international competitions.

As host country for the Pacific Mini Games 2025, Palau is expecting over 2,500 athletes from 24 Oceania countries, competing across 14 sports. To ensure their safety and wellbeing, all first responders (health care providers and support staff) should be equipped with basic skills to provide immediate care commonly encountered during large sports events. Preparation and training in sports medicine practices with a focus on injury prevention, athlete recovery, and overall medical coverage will be essential.

The volunteer would share their knowledge, skills, and expertise with the local physiotherapist, rehab technicians, physicians, and other healthcare professionals as well as coaches, team managers, and support staff on sport injury prevention, management and treatment.
