We’re looking for a Policy Mentor who can volunteer remotely (from home) in South Africa for 6 months.
· You will be working alongside the team to review current policy documents to ensure compliance and that they are suitably embedded into the organisation.
· To be considered for this role, you’ll need relevant experience in policy development for global non-profit organisations.
· You will be working alongside local staff to streamline policies to ensure their work is sustainable.
About the Partner Organisation
The Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) is a women led, feminist, not-for-profit organisation, in Pretoria South Africa. The SVRI works globally to build evidence for improved responses and prevention of violence against women (VAW) and violence against children (VAC) in low and middle income countries. The largest global network for advancing research in this field their work centres around the SVRI Strategic plan 2020-2024 with four pillars: building evidence and funding research; strengthening research capacity; promoting partnerships; and influencing change.
The volunteer would support the review of existing policies that govern the organisation. They would help determine whether they match objectives, help with amending policy drafts and suggest improvements.

Allowance
AUD$ 79 per month.
Requirements
- All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV).
- A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.
- A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.
