We’re looking for a Radio Engineering Mentor who can live and volunteer for 6 months in Kiribati.
- This assignment seeks to upskill the engineers capacity to maintain the AM transmitter through ensuring continuous operation, performance optimization, prevention of system failures, and ensuring safety compliance to support the sustainability of the equipment.
- To be considered for this role, you’ll need technical expertise in Electronics, Telecommunications, or Radio Engineering as well as 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in radio frequency (RF) engineering, including development, and maintenance of RF systems.
- As a volunteer, you will provide capacity building support to strengthen the organisations' long-term ability to maintain high broadcasting standards.
About the Partner Organisation
The Broadcasting Publication Authority (BPA) based in Tarawa, is the only public service broadcaster in Kiribati. Its main role is to offer education, information, and entertainment of the nation through its programming.
The volunteer would mentor the BPA engineering team and provide technical support to ensure the correct maintenance is completed on the AM Radio transmitter.

Requirements
- All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV).
- A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.
- A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.
Additional requirements for this assignment include attaining a First Aid Certificate.
