We’re looking for a Science Communicator who can live and volunteer for 12 months in Samoa.


  • This assignment seeks to contribute to the developing of STEAM activities for the Science Center
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a Degree in Science and work experience in science communication
  • You will be working alongside a team of seven staff members

About the Partner Organisation 

IMAGINE Science & Technology Discovery Centre in a building provided by the Ministry of Education and Culture which hosts planned interactive science activities requested by teachers for school student groups every Thursday and Friday. The Centre is open to the public Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Interactive physical and digital displays are created for the Discovery Centre and Outreach Programmes, featuring Samoa-relevant exhibits such as fish, birds, mangroves, and mini Botanical Gardens. Themed activities are also created based on the needs of the teachers and the curriculum eg. Climate connections, engineering, magnetism, human body, gears etc.


Outreach programmes with science shows and STEM tables are taken to schools around Samoa. STEAM skills training for teachers and trainee teachers is planned, promoting interactive hands-on activities for classrooms.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.
