We’re looking for a Senior Clinical Team Mentor for the Post Graduate Diploma of Rural Medicine who can live and volunteer for 12 months in the Solomons.
- You will be working alongside the local teams ( SINU, MoH and NRH) to develop a strategic plan for ongoing development of the PGDRM course(s), especially for higher degrees in the Masters Degree Level.
- To be considered for this role, you’ll need to be a Fellow of the College of General Practitioners or an experienced general practioner particularly in post-graduate training, and clinical education.
- Provide support in coaching and capacity building including coordination support around the course delivery at NRH and provincial centres.
About the Partner Organisation
The National Referral hospital, located in Honiara, in the Solomon Islands, is the only tertiary hospital there. It has over 300 beds and caters for Honiara residents but also referral cases from all over Solomon Islands. The Postgraduate Diploma in Rural Medicine (PGDRM) is an 18 month program co-developed by the Clinical Departments of the NRH, the Ministry of Health, Solomon Islands and the Solomon Islands National University (SINU). The departments at NRH, MoH, and SINU are currently offering the course under the School of Medicine, and will have a maximum of 4 participants.
The Clinical Team Leader volunteer will be valuable in supporting both the University and Clinical Programs team at NRH to establish and consolidate program delivery. The Course is 18 months duration, with 12 months at NRH and 6 months in Rural Clinical settings, District Hospitals and Large Area Health Centres. It will be the first of its kind to be offered in the region and will not only help clinicians and educators to learn but more importantly to identify the resource gaps and training issues to build on to improve the program going forward.
