About the Partner Organisation
The Kiribati School and Centre for Children with Special Needs (KSCCSN Inc) is a registered Incorporated Society comprising staff along with parents, grandparents and families whose children have disabilities. The school has over 300 students registered with a high number of needy students impacted by 24 different types of disabilities. Their vision is for children with disabilities in Kiribati to achieve their full potential in a safe, inclusive, welcoming and accessible learning environment, consistent with an international commitment to “education for all”. Their mission is to provide the best quality education possible for children with disabilities, in partnership with supportive organizations within and outside Kiribati.
The importance of the volunteer Speech Therapist is supporting the development of students with autism, cerebral palsy and non verbal students . With no qualified or trained speech therapists in Kiribati at this time the volunteer would be mentoring a local staff member to take over and continue this important work after the assignment is completed.
