 We’re looking for a STEM Exhibit Designer Mentorwho can volunteer in a hybrid role, both remotely online from home for 3 months, then in country in South Africa for 9 months.  

  • You will be working alongside the team to support the development of designs to upgrade existing exhibits as well as new designs for exhibits in the centre.
  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a passion for designing experiential exhibits or have related experience in science communication, museums or other educational settings.
  • Work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals including 4, good education, 10, reduced inequalities and influencing into the future 9, 11 and 12.  

About the Partner Organisation 

Sci-Enza is based in Pretoria, South Africa, and aims to promote greater understanding and awareness of science and technology among South Africans as well as fostering public engagement with science. They are committed to creating a learning environment where science and imagination unite. They do this by offering interactive STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) experiences, memorable exhibitions, engaging programs and hands-on workshops. 

Sci-Enza is seeking a volunteer who is a creative problem solver to support their team and play a critical role in upholding their mission to stimulate curiosity and inspire science learning in everyone.

There are two allowances for a hybrid assignment.  

The allowance for the in-country phase is AUD$ 2595 per month, the allowance for the remote part time phase is AUD$ 79 per month.

Requirements

·      All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 

·      A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  

·      A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.  

Additional requirements for this assignment include attaining a First Aid Certificate.
