We’re looking for a Strength & Conditioning Mentor who can live and volunteer in the Solomon Islands for 12 months.

  • As a volunteer, your contribution to the National sport education program will ultimately improve the quality of sport experience for many young people of the Solomon Islands. 
  • To be considered for this assignment, you’ll need tertiary qualifications in Sport & Exercise Science, a minimum of level 1 ASCA (or similar), plus a minimum of 2 years of experience in a Strength & Conditioning role.
  • Provide support to Increase local staff capacity to deliver all aspects of the physical preparation and injury prevention programs for athletes through an evidence based, practically applied, context specific approach. 

About the Partner Organisation 

The Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS), based in Honiara provides centralised performance services, programs and training facilities to 1200 athletes and 100 coaches on scholarships across 30 different sports. SINIS will soon be recognised as the Sports Education Hub for nationally certified Sport education programs and accreditations.

This assignment will provide a platform to support the holistic development of athletes from a wide range of Olympic, Commonwealth and other international sports. You will be building capacity of local staff and volunteers who act in the roles of S&C coaches, trainers, rehabilitation coaches or sport coaches through structured learning, training & development opportunities.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV). 
  • A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.  
  • A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.  

Additional requirements for this assignment include attaining a First Aid Certificate.
