We’re looking for an Urban Planner who can volunteer in a hybrid role both remotely (online) and in-country for a total of 12 months.
- This assignment seeks to review and refine the Integrated Urban Development Plan (IUDP) and integrated settlement plan in line with the vision and objectives of the municipality
- To be considered for this role, you’ll need Masters or Bachelor of Urban Planning or Urban and Regional Development or professional qualification of a commensurate level or higher level.
- As a volunteer, you will support the Municipality to create periodic and annual plans and programs for integrated urban planning to guide the IUDP implementation.
About the Partner Organisation
Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality (KPLRM), established in March 2017, is located in Solukhumbu District, Koshi Province, covering 1,539.11 sq. km. KPLRM functions as a service-oriented organisation, addressing the daily and periodic needs of its citizens. It focuses on improving services, facilities, and sustainable development for the people and community. The municipality aims at planning for and improving the appropriate location and design of settlements, transport networks, infrastructure, tourism opportunities and land for commercial and agricultural purposes, within the context of environment, disaster risk reduction and climate change challenges. The municipality has completed a draft IUPD which requires review and refining in consultation with the community, municipality and agencies. Following this work, the Municipality intends to commence implementation of the IUDP by preparing a series of settlement plans. The urban planner will work with the municipal executives and municipality officers by transferring knowledge and skills contributing to urban planning. The urban planner volunteer will be proficient in navigating complex issues, engage stakeholders and mentoring staff to plan for sustainable development.

There are two allowances for a hybrid assignment.
The allowance for the in-country phase is AUD$ 1630 per month, the allowance for the remote phase is AUD$ 79 per month.

Requirements
- All applicants must be Australian citizens.
