We’re looking for a Youth Development Mentor who can volunteer in-country for 6 months.
- This assignment will play a crucial role in empowering youth and enhancing community engagement across the state.
- To be considered for this role, you’ll need relevant tertiary qualifications in community development, youth or social work, and strong project management skills with the ability to design, implement, and evaluate youth programs tailored to diverse needs and interests.
- As a volunteer, you will also support the improvement of the departments efficiency, productivity, and help to upskill the local team.
About the Partner Organisation
The Department of Youth and Civic Affairs, based in Yap, is a government agency under the Executive Branch of the Yap State Government and under this is the Division of Youth Services. This division focuses on youth development programs, youth events in the communities, as well as grants and opportunities that are youth related.
The Division of Youth Services collaborates with various youth groups and organizations across Yap State to deliver programs and services. These groups may focus on specific interests, such as sports, music, environmental issues, or social justice.
This volunteer position involves assisting with youth empowerment training, grant research and development, and youth events planning and coordination. The role includes mentoring youth groups, collaborating with rural communities on various youth projects, and helping the Division of Youth Services improve its programs and services. Further this role will also provide technical support to Tamil Youth Organization to improve its organizational structure, governance and youth programming.

The allowance for an in-country assignment is AUD$ 2,200 per month.

Requirements
- All applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of Permanent Residency Visa of Australia, or New Zealand residents in Australia with a Special Category Visa (SCV).
- A National Police Check must be completed during the application process.
- A Psychological Test is required for all volunteer assignments.
Additional requirements for this assignment include attaining a First Aid Certificate.
